In lieu of a useful life, and in anticipation of having one someday, this is a place to keep track of writing that makes me think, consider, reconsider, shamefacedly admit my mistakes, omissions and lack of consideration, feel superior, inferior, or totally freaking furious.

A friend who is a POC once (maybe more than once) tried to explain to me how she felt about her interaction with the world around us. I dismissed her feelings because I didn’t want to hear (and actually, I didn’t hear it until I remembered the conversation some years later, to my shame) that the immediate world around me could be racist. of course I knew that racism existed in the world, but I refused to see that it existed in mine. truly clueless.

so, a quest to listen to what I’m being told, especially when the person doing the telling knows truckloads more than me about the subject under discussion.
